ABOUT THIS PROJECT
This website was created to educate tenants, raise awareness, and advocate for modernized protections in Wyoming — especially in university towns where young renters are often navigating leases and legal language for the first time.
Many assume that basic privacy and tenant protections are automatic everywhere in the U.S. In reality, state laws vary dramatically. Wyoming’s lack of defined protections can create an environment where confusion, fear, and boundary ambiguity arise simply because guardrails are not clearly written into statute.
This project exists to help prevent harm before it happens — by giving renters knowledge many do not realize they will need until it is too late.
This is not a site about anger.
This is a site about clarity, safety, dignity, and modern expectations around privacy inside a home.
When tenants are better informed, the system becomes safer and clearer for everyone.
Why This Matters Beyond My Case:
What happened to me is not an isolated experience. Wyoming’s landlord–tenant laws are among the least modernized in the country. There are almost no statutory protections for privacy inside the home, no guaranteed notice requirements, and no meaningful guardrails to prevent intimidation or retaliation being reframed as “business decisions.”
In a university town like Laramie — where thousands of young adults rent their first home at 18 or 19 years old — these gaps leave people especially vulnerable. Most believe they have protections similar to other states. They don’t.
My case shows how easily the system can be used against someone without power, connections, or legal knowledge. When a state leans entirely on lease language instead of balanced laws, one-sided contracts get upheld, confusing boundaries get exploited, and tenants can walk away emotionally or financially harmed even when they did everything right.
This is about something larger than one person’s experience. It’s about modernizing outdated laws so tenants and landlords both have clarity, dignity, and safety — and so no one else has to navigate what I did simply to live in their own home.
